Our Kids Doctor at Kids Care Pediatrics

Meet our friendly, experienced pediatricians and staff at Kids Care Pediatrics. Our entire team is dedicated to helping you and your child feel at home from the moment you walk through the door. We’re proud to be members of the Plainfield and Colonia communities and serve the needs of their children.

We pride ourselves on being an exceptional practice where children are put at the forefront of care. Our child-focused practice works hard to meet the needs of children from infancy through adolescence. Compassionate, knowledgeable and supportive staff is the cornerstone of Kids Care Pediatrics quality care. All of our pediatricians and medical staff are highly trained professionals, and maintain the highest level of accreditation in pediatrics to address the special needs of infants, children, and teens.

Dr. Anita Kishen

Dr. Anita Kishen founded Kids Care Pediatrics with a deep commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to her patients. Inspired by her father’s dedication to medicine, she developed a strong passion for serving the community, first in India and later in Brooklyn, New York.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Kishen is actively involved in public health initiatives. She is a member of the New Jersey Immunization Network and participates in various educational programs through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). She also serves as a medical advisor for a New Jersey health plan.

Recognizing the growing need for mental health support, Dr. Kishen launched a mental health program at Kids Care Pediatrics during the pandemic. Along with her team, she continues to engage in various initiatives to promote health and well-being for the families she serves. Her mission remains to ensure that every child receives the highest standard of medical care in a nurturing and supportive environment.

When she is not working, Dr. Kishen enjoys spending time with her family and friends and loves visiting New York City.

Dr. Gayam

Dr. Gayam has been in pediatric practicing since 2000. She joined Kids Care Pediatrics in 2015. Clinical Interests include: Children with developmental delays, asthma, and obesity. She also enjoys reading.

Dr. Shanda Johnson, FNP

Dr. Shanda Johnson is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) whose focus for the last several years has been pediatric and adolescent health. Dr. Johnson recently obtained her Ph.D. from Rutgers the State University of New Jersey, Graduate School Newark. Her passion and research focus is childhood and adolescent obesity, the how, the why, the wants next? Dr. Johnson has been in nursing education and clinical practice for the last 17 years. Dr. Johnson aim is to always connect teaching and the clinical environment to better the lives of her patients, their families, and the community in which she serves. On her downtime Dr. Johnson loves spending time with her son with his many sports and activities. Now that school is complete Dr. Johnson can now return to her love of reading!

Priya Lad, CPNP-PC

Since 2009, Priya Lad has dedicated her career to the health and well-being of children as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. A proud graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, Ms. Lad has extensive experience working with children in both office settings and school-based health systems. In addition to her clinical work, she imparts her knowledge and skills to the next generation of nurses as an educator.

Ms. Lad’s clinical interests include asthma, obesity, and behavioral health, reflecting her commitment to addressing critical pediatric health issues. Outside of her professional pursuits, she finds joy in cooking and exploring different cuisines, indulging in arts and crafts, and tackling do-it-yourself projects. Above all, Priya cherishes the time spent with her family.

Amy, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Amy received a BS in Nutrition Science from Russell Sage College, Sage Graduate School for dietetic internship and MS in Applied Nutrition. Amy is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), which means she has completed an extensive supervised program of practice, and passed a nationally recognized exam. Amy has previously worked with the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, hospital, and outpatient settings specializing in pediatrics.

​Currently Amy is working on an advanced certification in pediatric food allergy. Amy enjoys cooking for her family and hosting large family events. In her free time she enjoys running and has completed 5 marathons.

Paul, Marriage and Family Therapist

Paul is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (License # 37FA00013200). He believes in working towards developing a more complete understanding of the family’s experiences through the exploration of their personal stories and history. In this way, ineffective solutions and behaviors can be explored and understood in such a way as to create a fertile ground for change. Addressing the presenting concerns within the system through communication and appropriate use of language can lead to an effective shift within the dynamics of the family system as a whole. He has experience working with children, individuals, couples, families, and groups.

Dr. Kishen

Dr. Kishen has been in Pediatric Practice since 2002. She started her own pediatric practice in 2009. Clinical interests include childhood obesity, asthma, psyhco social issues in adolescents, and developmental surveillance. She strives to provide good quality care and has been part of quality improvement committee at a community hospital. In her downtime, she enjoys visiting museums, reading, and gardening.
